AuthenTec and BIO-key are partners. BIO-key fingerprint technology is used in the AuthenTec sensor that's in the LG eXpo mobile phone. Below is a message I posted on the BIO-key board a while back.

BIO-key, Apple and mobile security.

I just wanted to remind everyone that BIO-key demonstrated their mobile security solutions last September using Apple iPads and iPhones as well as the LG eXpo. That doesn't mean BIO-key has a contract with Apple, but it sure makes it look extremely likely. I'm hoping Apple's new iPads and iPhones that are coming out in a few weeks will include a fingerprint scanner.

Part of a news release from September:

BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCBB:BKYI), a leader in finger-based biometric identification solutions, today announced that the company is showcasing its fingerprint biometric solutions, including the recently announced Enterprise Identification Platform for Mobile Devices and Smartphones at two events next week. BIO-key is exhibiting in booth #2225 at the 2010 Oracle OpenWorld Conference being held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA from September 19-23. Additionally, BIO-key is exhibiting in booth #224 at the 2010 Biometric Consortium Conference being held at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa FL from September 21-23.

At these events, demonstrations of BIO-key's biometric identification technology, running on the LG eXpo Smartphone, Apple iPad and Apple iPhone will provide visitors with the ability to experience how remote users can securely, quickly and conveniently establish their identity with BIO-key biometric ID solutions. Additionally, at Oracle OpenWorld, BIO-key will be showcasing its ID Director for Oracle Access Manager identity solutions.

Also, Apple has been selling fingerprint readers for their computers that use AuthenTec sensors.

The Motorola Atric uses both AuthenTec and BIO-key technology.
