Individuals are allowed to file for 30 claims each per year. The Stead's claims are set aside for KATX/BVIG. Since they are individuals it is actually cheaper to file the claims vice the company which is why they do it. However, there is still a cost to keep each claim open per year. The Stead brothers have relinquished claims in the past if something isn't worth paying for each year. This one is interesting in that it was part of the Rusty Ridge claim where they just filed for a claim adjacent to this claim and Ken's.
