OT: You guys are not going to believe this story but I'll tell it anyway.

A friend and I were out scouting some unfamiliar territory for a duck hunting spot or two. We went down the river and saw a small runoff coming into the main part of the river so we beached the boat to find out where the water was coming from. We found a sleu and were in the process of looking for an open area when we ran across a dog. This dog began to bark very loudly and was looking somewhat aggressive. Instead of showing fear we walked up to the dog and managed to calm him down. We thought at first that there was someone else out there scouting but came to realize that the dog had been there for awhile.

After a few minutes we started walking again and about 15 yards from where we were standing, hidden behind some brush, was a deer. This deer had apparently been dead for a few days and part of the carcass was gone. Apparently the dog found the deer and was eating and guarding it very carefully as food for dogs would be fairly scarce out in those parts.

Now to the good part...

The deer we found was the most beautiful 10 point buck I have ever seen. We haven't scored it yet but our preliminary opinion is that it's likely in the 130's to 140's.

As for the dog...it is a fully trained Black Labrador Retreiver. He will sit, lay, stay, heel, fetch, drop...and all of the things you train a good bird dog to do! A simple ad in the local paper for a few days will ease my conscience. The dog will be mine!!! Happy hunting guys and gals!
