My guess:
Some big player walked it down pre-market which triggered sell alerts, driving the stock down to a point that triggered even more sell alerts. The sells I was seeing were for odd numbers or big blocks, which signifies a person's account dumping out.
Once it was low enough, there's some quick accumulation and the price goes higher on practically nothing.
The pre-market was about 4.5k shares, and the quick accumulation was around 25k shares.
