stockmasterflash, There is a significant difference in a STOCKHOLDER and a STOCKHOLDER OF RECORD.

The STOCKHOLDER is the individual investor such as you or I who decided to buy into a given stock. So Dean was saying that out of the approximately 14,000 STOCKHOLDERS approximately 50 to 100 showed up for the shareholder meeting.

A STOCKHOLDER OF RECORD is mostly Brokerage houses such as TD Ameritrade, Scott Trade, E-Trade and many others who hold shares of a given stock for us shareholders. So the 790 figure you are referencing is the cumulative number of brokerage firms and banks and other Stock Traders who hold the shares for a large number of different stockholders.
