I hear ya about the manipulating. Here's a possibility to the contrary of what you are thinking:

AMD has the goods, 64 bit, SOI process, Mirror Bit flash, embeded processor (Alchemy)...

and

They have a good working realtionship with the good ol' boys. Hence the converts. It is a way to open the gate for the fella's without tipping their hand.

The converts have potential for the holder to call shares in the future. Just on the face of that, good news for the holder is price goes up in the future.

Usually, you would expect some selling to get the sure money. But, It could also be a great speculation, with little risk because of the bond part of the convert. All speculation on my part.

However, the price tanked hard and stabilized over a two day period. Today, seems to be a good bounce. I am surprized at the strength today. It looks like technical strength to me. I would like to have some of the tech's opinion.

I would also, like to be a fly on the wall at AMD's R&D fac. heh zzz

I had planned to top off my shares at around $5.20~5.40 today, heck. russ
