That concept could prove effective, partly because you'd select the one most likely to pursue your common interest.

Or the smoothest talking snake oil salesman....kinda like what we have now. How about keeping the selection process the same but tightening up the qualities required like making all elected officials take lie detector tests before they can take office. Provide statements of net worth that are then available to the public. Have some sort of Code of Ethics that if they violate same, they can be booted and face severe penalties. You need a deterrent that is so severe that if corruption is proven, they are screwed forever. Dunno...still thinking.
