Basing
A period in which a stock price has very little or no trend. The resulting price pattern is a flat line.
Not trying to knock you, but I've noticed many using the term wrong. Basically the term basing or a stock finding a base is when the PPs stops climbing or falling and maintains a constant PPs value, before the next trend starts.
This means momentum swings have stopped and investors are happy with the value of the share price. During this time investors who think the stock will rise again, accumulate share from investors that think the stock price will fall and the daily volume tend to base at or near the short term moving average.
If you apply this to Gtels action lately, you'll notice the EOD value has lowered, while the daily spread between the highs and lows has caused volumes to increase. So Gtel has found NO base ! But a steady walk down, with daytraders interest continuing.
