Re: VanderPool vs Pacifica... Interesting, now that AMD has stolen X86 from INTC with AMD-64, AMD is now stealing another page from the INTC playbook.

I'm not sure why you see Pacifica as the next x86-64. Unlike x86-64, it looks like Intel is ahead with getting Venderpool to market first, not the other way around.

Re: Too bad INTC is still tied to that FSB and has nothing like HT. INTC is going to be playing catch up for a very long time, something that is going to become more and more obvious.

Well, I have to mostly agree here. CSI, which sounds like the Intel response, doesn't seem to be on the roadmap until Whitefield in 2007. However, I think IBM's x3 chipset proves that the power of dual FSB with snoop filters can reach bandwidths and performance close to what AMD can get with Hypertransport, at least for the time being. And each x3 FSB only runs at 667MT/s. If Intel can make a similar chipset that can scale to 1067MT/s with the regular 3 loads, then Intel can produce up to 4P systems that can keep up in bandwidth to HTT.
