I don't know what casino you go to that is buying their machines outright but traditionally slot manufacturers have made money by simply selling machines. Increasingly, however, they're sharing in the profitability of the machine itself by leasing the machines directly to casinos in exchange for a percentage of the wagers (or casino winnings) from those machines. This provides slot machine makers with a more consistent, stable revenue stream, one that's less dependant on casinos buying and replacing machines from them. This also gives the casino owner a chance to change his inventory of slots from machines that do not do well to a newer machine that is more popular after the lease term is up. Not $15 grand each.
