For what it's worth, I had a chat with a director of one of the fishing companies in the Bristol Bay area , and he is of the opinion that although the " huge open cast mine planned for the Pebble project will probably destroy the salmon industry in this area", the project would go ahead. "Too much big money, big investors" to stop it.
He also said that the oil industry had a vested industry to help stop the "Greens" from getting any legal traction.
Interesting perspective.
