Imagis Technologies Demonstrates 64-bit ID-2000 Face Recognition Technology at Microsoft's Premier European Infrastructure Conference

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2002-- New Architecture Provides Dramatic Increase in Search
Performance for Large Databases

Imagis Technologies Inc. ("Imagis") (OTCBB:IGSTF)(TSX VENTURE:NAB) (Germany:IGY) announced today, in cooperation with Microsoft Corp., the successful demonstration of a 64-bit version of its flagship ID-2000(TM) face recognition technology. The ongoing joint demonstration is occurring as part of Microsoft's IT Forum 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark (November 19 to 22). Imagis was the only biometric face recognition vendor invited to the event by Microsoft(R), and it is the only vendor that is offering a 64-bit version that is optimized for Microsoft technology.

The software demonstration represents a unique collaboration between Imagis, Microsoft, Intel(TM), and HP and showcases the group's ability to provide a powerful enterprise solution for large scale face recognition deployments. In particular, the IT Forum event demonstrated the performance advantages of running ID-2000 on the Microsoft Windows(R) .NET Server 2003 and the Itanium(R) 2 processor from Intel.

"ID-2000 takes full advantage of the increased performance and enhanced abilities of the .NET Server 2003 platform and the Itanium 2 processor," says Iain Drummond, President and CEO, Imagis Technologies Inc. "We are working closely with Microsoft and Intel to optimize the 64-bit version of ID-2000 so that it has unprecedented performance and function in the identification and security markets."

Continued Drummond, "With the 64-bit version of ID-2000 our customers can search on an almost unlimited number of images. This means that we are better positioned to equip large scale initiatives, including some of the national, state, and provincial passport and driver's license programs.

The software being demonstrated at Microsoft's IT Forum 2002 is beta-release software that will be commercialized in conjunction with the Microsoft. Windows .NET Server 2003. Microsoft announced on November 18, 2002 that the .NET Server will be available in April 2003.
