No speculation here. Spoke to them umpteen times and told them I am not at all confortable with them doing it this way. All shares from all clients will be merged as of 1/19/11 and sent to DTC and then DTC will take it from there. The shares will be in Fidelity's name and not in individual names. Now you know why the concern.

They assigned a CUSIP number and moved the shares I want converted to another area of my acct. I actually rec'd a letter from them at home saying I was eligible for this conversion and then got another one saying that I had notified them that I would be doing it. All calls were on a recorded line so I have recourse if this gets messed up.
