CHICAGO (WBBM) - Mayor Richard M. Daley will be in Washington D.C. next week for two reasons, and one is considered by some to be the invitation of a lifetime.

Mayor Daley and his wife, Maggie, have been invited to attend the White House State Dinner honoring China’s president.
The Sun-Times reports while in the nation’s capital, Daley will also attend a meeting of the U.S. Conference of Mayors where he’s expected to receive the Distinguished Public Service Award.
The following day, the President of China will be in Chicago promoting trade. On Thursday night, the Mayor will host a dinner for the President and his delegation.
