At the most recent IndyCar Series race at Phoenix -- the XM Satellite Radio Indy 200 -- Herta recorded his first IndyCar Series pole position and went on to finish seventh.
Herta is currently 10th in the IndyCar Series championship standings, 48 points from the lead.
The Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, a 1.8-mile and 14-turn course, will be the first street- course race in IndyCar Series history.
Herta drove the XM Satellite Radio car to a ninth-place finish in the 2004 points championship.
Herta placed the #7 entry in the top 10 on 10 occasions in 2004.
Herta scored four top-five finishes in 2004 (Indianapolis - fourth, Richmond - fourth, Kansas - fourth, Chicagoland - second).
Herta has three career major open-wheel racing wins and eight poles.
Herta has one IndyCar Series victory, which came at Kansas Speedway in 2003.
