There is no basis but paranoid delusion to say the FBI or anything was "pulling his strings". Are you really serious? What possible reason would you assume that? No, I would not even entertain that and hold any judgement based on suck a, to me, insane thought. There is evil and insanity in this world - sometimes it is as simple as that.
