>>It seems shorts should feel safe rearming going into Thanksgiving.<<

Seeing decreasing volume for the last three days and week over week, I think we will see a good dip next week followed by a rally on low volume during Thanksgiving week. I think retail will be slow Thanksgiving weekend and all the stories will come out that there is 6 less shopping days this year, and we see a another dip after Thanksgiving. If I had the money to push the market around ( yeah you, Greenspan!) that's how I would play it. Markets don't go straight up nor straight down. We are due for some profit taking. The bulls used up a bunch of ammo this week.

Another point I made a few days ago. Unlike last year, it appears to me that the analyst houses have taken on new fiduciary responsibility of warning the public of over valuations. INTC's "sell" downgrade this week and CSCO's the week before as examples.

With what we saw this week I think the market will go into a choppy period throughout the holidays. The fed has to keep the market from sinking before Christmas. However, selling pressure will keep it from going too much higher in my opinion as I believe we will start seeing real signs of the consumer pulling back in autos, homes and Christmas shopping.
