Company Description

UV Systems Technology Inc. is founded on the manufacture and sale of its Ultra Guard water and wastewater disinfection system.

The company's technology is based on a patented high-efficiency, high-intensity ultraviolet disinfection system.

Ultra Guard technology marks a significant advancement in UV treatment based on patented design elements and a proprietary, high-efficiency (high intensity - low current) UV lamp. Given these advancements it is now possible to disinfect large volumes of water/wastewater economically and in a safe, environmentally sound manner. System efficiencies result in a reduction in operating costs of 80% compared to other UV alternatives. Ultra Guard efficiency also means a much smaller footprint. This is an important feature that facilitates retrofits of less efficient or less environmentally friendly installations as well as minimizing new plant construction costs. Some of the technology's unique features follow:

specialized uv lamps minimize power usage, last longer, stay clean longer, more germicidal uv per kilowatt, less maintenance; patented equipment design with optimized hydraulics:

flow gate diffuser ensures flow / disinfection uniformity; flow chamber brings fluid contaminants to UV source, maximizes UV delivery, reduces disinfection residence time and system footprint; flow-balanced weir requires less head than competing systems, maintains lamps submerged even under zero flow; automated glass cleaning lowers maintenance costs and maximizes UV delivery.

Infinitely variable lamp controller integrated to flow and effluent UV transmission levels automatically ensures optimal UV intensity to suit transient flow and peak variations.

Ultraviolet light has the capability to treat liquid streams containing bacteria, viruses, and spores, disinfecting them without the use of chemicals and chemical by-products. The ultraviolet light simply shines through the fluid, inactivating the micro-organisms.

Ultra Guard can thus be used in systems in competition with the normal low-pressure, low-intensity lamps and medium pressure lamps for potable water treatment, where dramatically fewer lamps will be required, giving a more compact installation at reduced cost. Ultra Guard lamps are only used in potable water installations in large capacity systems where the high-efficiency, high-intensity features can be fully optimized.

However, the main thrust of Ultra Guard is in wastewater and sewage effluent treatment. Wastewater and sewage effluent streams are by nature murky, and low-pressure, low-intensity lamps are less desirable in treating such streams.

Their low-intensity light has difficulty penetrating the murky fluid, and when the murkiness increases, the number of lamps required increases substantially. The Ultra Guard high-efficiency, high-intensity UV system can easily penetrate these murky fluids, with a manageable number of lamps at an attractive cost.

In a typical WWTP, the processing capacity would be between 1.5 and 3.0 million L/day per lamp, and the system would consume about 500 watts of electricity per hour. Assuming power costs at $.075 per Kilowatt hour annually, power costs would be $328.00 per lamp per year.

UV Systems Technology Inc. wishes to develop contacts with senior representatives in the public or private sector who are currently engaged in sewage and wastewater treatment. In addition, companies which construct potable water treatment systems and are interested in applying innovative technology are of great interest to the company. UV Systems Technology Inc. wishes to identify prospective licensees who have the capacity and interest to market and build these treatment plants in any country worldwide.

Technology Profile

The Ultra Guard System uses a proprietary, high efficiency UV
lamp and a specially designed reactor chamber to multiply the
higher germicidal UV energy delivered to bacteria and viruses.
The process is automatically controlled by a computer to always
deliver the desired bacteria inactivation dose even in transient
conditions of flow and waste characteristics. Optimal energy
usage is assured by an advanced, solid state, proprietary Power
controller. The equipment has an automated cleaning system.
Another feature is that moving parts are virtually eliminated
for minimal maintenance. Due to its advanced design and leading
edge components it can achieve the toughest disinfection
standards with significantly fewer lamps and up to 10 times less energy.
