Yes, I'm conflicted by the case, too. We've handed over a moral problem to the legal system and asked them to resolve it for us.
Which, of course, they could never do to everyone's satisfaction. But I'm not complaining. I would never want to see a "morals court" in the United States of America.
Eventually, the final decision rests on one person. She or he will make a decision that's final and irrevocable and it will probably be based on that person's morals.
And those that agree will cry, "Well done" and those that don't will cry, "Foul".
