While the 2 INDs are LARGELY similar, there are important differences. For example, with AMD we have the Bruch's membrane issue to overcome, which is not an issue with SMD.

This particular example may not be significant, but my point is that even as a layperson, I can identify a major difference between the 2 INDs. There could very well be other differences that we do not know about.
