CirTran's 'Hot Dog Express' Gets 'Prime Time' Debut with Dion Sanders at International Home & Housewares Show
CHICAGO, Mar 22, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The new "Dion Sanders Hot Dog Express(TM)" manufactured by CirTran Corp. (CIRT) received a "prime time" debut at the International Home & Housewares Show this week with Prime Time himself -- former NFL and Major League Baseball star Dion Sanders -- as its spokesperson.
"CirTran's Dion Sanders Hot Dog Express was one of the stars of the show -- that's for sure," said Trevor M. Saliba, the company's executive vice president for worldwide business development.
The International Home & Housewares Show, which ran from Sunday through today at McCormick Place, is the world's premier housewares marketplace, featuring more than 2,100 exhibits from 34 countries and 18,000-plus buyers from around the world.
Earlier this year CirTran announced it had been awarded an exclusive contract to build the new consumer electronics product (see "CirTran Cuts the Mustard with $5.4 Million Contract to Manufacture the New Sold-on-TV 'Hot Dog Express'," Business Wire, January 24). The contract with Emson Inc., a division of E. Mishan & Sons Inc., of New York, runs through 2007, with minimum revenues to CirTran of $1.8 million per year, or $5.4 million over three years.
ESPN Follows Sanders at Show
"CirTran's Dion Sanders Hot Dog Express got lots of extra exposure at the show as ESPN was following Dion around with cameras for a 'Day in the Life of Dion' show," said Saliba. "You just can't buy publicity like that," he said. "Dion and everyone at CirTran are counting on this exposure to help get the Hot Dog Express off to a great start in sales."
A small consumer electronics appliance, the Dion Sanders Hot Dog Express includes an electric rotary grill and a section grill to cook hot dogs, buns, hamburgers, vegetables, shrimp and other foods. It is being manufactured in China by CirTran-Asia, the wholly owned, ShenZhen-based subsidiary of CirTran.
Quality Operation, Quality Product
When CirTran was awarded the contract to build the Hot Dog Express, Mike Ackerman, vice president of Emson, said his company had chosen CirTran, "because it has a quality operation and produces quality products.
"Emson has been impressed by the manufacturing wherewithal of Mr. Hawatmeh here in the U.S., also with Charles Ho, who heads CirTran operations in China," he said. "Emson looks forward to a successful relationship with CirTran and a 'prime time' debut for the Dion Sanders Hot Dog Express on national TV in the U.S. this spring."
