As fiat currency fails and we begin to rely on barter. One ounce of silver may become increasingly valueable. Having smaller denominations with specified weight and silver content is desirable. Many of the central and south american countries took to labeling thier silver coins with fineness and weight, so the reciever of said coins can be assured of thier content. Having smaller denominations/weights is just good business sense (for making smaller purchases). HL
