Depending upon the application and water treatment requirements, filtration systems use a variety of media to remove contaminants. Filters vary widely in cost and performance. Most aren't very expensive and are easy to install. The filters primarily in use, target the removal of chlorine, sediment, taste and odor from drinking water. The two most common filters used in Point of Use (POU) applications are carbon of various types, and the CW/WP Series Polypropylene wound cartridges.



The Polypropylene WP Series cartridge has a high dirt-loading capacity and great efficiency. CW/WP Series cartridges are suitable for a wide variety of sediment filtration applications including municipal and well water.







The Carbon EP Series filter provides effective taste, odor, and chlorine reduction and maximizes utilization of the carbon block.

Filters are an effective method for removal of unwanted impurities however unless very small micron filters are used, they will not remove cysts. If a small micron 0.1 to 1.0 is used for cyst removal, the life of these filters is very short. Parasitic cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium are present in virtually all-surface water sources. Infection by cysts can be fatal to children, the elderly and people who are immuno-suppressed. The most common cyst present in North America is Giardia and Cryptosporidium.

Certain strains of E. Coli bacteria and virus are dangerous and cannot be effectively removed by filtration. The UltraFlo system combines filtration and Ultraviolet light to purify drinking water and is very effective in deactivating most cyst, bacteria, virus and other microbiological contaminates. Sediment Filter in the UltraFlo system is used for the removal of turbidity and other solid matter while the purpose on the carbon filter is to improve taste by removing chlorine, and various other chemical, improving the appearance and removing foul odors
