My understanding is that there is a tax deduction, a bit different than a tax credit, based on the value of the stock transferred to the Foundation, a charity. But the value of the stock is so great that Gordon will never get to use up the deduction on his tax bill.

But a tax dedution is not the reason that Gordon Moore established the Foundation.
