Liu Jiang, vice chairman of China's National Development and Reform
Commission, said the country plans to rely heavily on nuclear energy
to address climate change concerns that stem from its economic and
population growth as well as its use of coal. Liu said nuclear
energy "will be a priority" for China. He also told a gathering of
energy and environment ministers in London that China will be one of
the largest potential markets for nuclear development in the next 20
years.
