"Every year, I myself seek out ways to take advantage of that allowable deduction, and I can think of no better way than to donate perhaps $500 worth of games to 3-4 different churches. I usually wait until closer to Christmas, but as you say, why wait? The sooner the better.

Great idea. I have decided to do the same. The last few years, my wife and I have gone to the toystore and purchased some great gifts to donate to Toys for Tots. As a former Marine, this charity is near and dear to my heart. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the games in Texas' Walmarts.
