Another great find by DDmasterSOG!...

Those comments from MSFT solidify in my mind who is behind the re-exam.

Who would one trust more to "own" this space and make it one, unfragmented cohesive ecosystem...

NSR or MSFT.

My bet is on NSR.

"NeuStar, Inc., is a provider of mission-critical telecommunications and Internet infrastructure services, whose mission is to remain the trusted neutral third party that these industries have come to rely upon. NeuStar is sensitive to the privacy concerns of those that we serve and therefore, we have developed state-of-the art privacy programs to ensure the security and protection of the data that we collect through the provision of our mission-critical services."

.......

codes4real: Funny...I see brewski basically is stating what I threw out there.

The software he speaks of, IMO, can be the scanner software itself.

Go indirect - be secure. Go direct - don't be secure

IMO...How to protect consumers/brands from hijacking of codes for criminal gain (I've offered this before):

1) One GLOBAL (or for starter, in the USA) clearinghouse using indirect (NSR) as the STANDARD (NEOM being the "glue" that holds it all together)
2) Then, have all barcode readers be able to read codes that go through NSR's 2D barcode clearinghouse
3) When a person clicks on a code, if it's indirect and flows through NSR's clearinghouse, consumer gets the (secure) content desired immediately
4) When a person clicks on a code and it's not an indirect code that flows through NSR's clearinghouse, then the person is immediately (BEFORE taken to whatever site/location the code is pointing to) presented w/ a BIG WARNING message that indicates the potential for risk if they continue to access the content. Then, the person can choose to continue to be navigated to the risky content or cancel the transmission.

Regarding the GS1 news today...LOVE seeing our little NEOM snuggled in between all those HUGE brands.

It's easy. Just takes cooperation and STANDARDS in place.

NSR and NEOM are leading that charge.

Hilarious reading all the "oops" comments there. VERY TELLING!
