He actually used about 3 versions in his lifetime. One set were the 1851 Colt Navy's given to him. These were the ones that were engraved JB Hicko'c'k, 1869 on the backstrap. It had the extra 'c' in his name.. He later used the 1861 Colt Navy's (always in pairs) and then had them converted into .38 Special when he was US Marshall, which he got fired from for shooting more than just bad guys. LOL. Most all of the Colt Navy's were .36 cal. or .44 cal. To me those were exciting times that I would have loved to have lived in. Gunfights @ the OK Corral, Wild Bill Hickok, the Earps, the Clantons, Billy the Kid, Tombstone, etc. Yeah, Wild n' Wooly days.
