Nov 9 : CEO Dave Habinger said in an interview with Tech Trader Daily that revenues from the company’s Roxio Now movie download platform were up 24% sequentially and 136 % year over year. He points out that the service, in connection with various partners, is now available on more than 200 different consumer electronics devices, up from 49 one quarter earlier. But the growth in the Roxio business didn’t make up for weaker performance in its software business; overall revenues were down slightly from a year ago.
Habinger says the company is on track to hit 30 million devices with a version of its movie service by June; he says Sonic expects to have one or more versions of its download service on up to 95% of connected Blu-Ray players and TVs over the next few years.
