Cooking Oil Cleanup

Submitted by Anonymous on November 1, 2010 - 2:35am.

Tonight I was going to to use my deep fryer to fry fish for dinner. I hadn't used it in quiet awhile, so I anticipated it would need a good cleaning before it was used. After draining the old grease, it was much worse than I ever imagined. The stainless steel cooking basket had been left submerged in the old grease as well. The oil pan and the cooking basket both had a ring of sticky, gooey, grimey grease about 1/4 of an inch wide where the top level of the old grease had been. I filled the oil pan up with hot tap water, added a generous amount of dawn dish detergent, mixed it up real good, submerged the cooking basket in the soapy water, and allowed them to soak for about an hour. I then took a scouring pad, and attempted to clean the basket and the oil pan, but due to the thick sticky consistency of the grease the dish detergent had little effect on it. I got my bottle of Winning Colours, and completely coated the ring of caked on grease on the oil pan, and the stainless steel cooking basket. I allowed it to soak in for only a few minutes, then grabbed the scouring pad and went to work. Within five minutes the nasty caked on grease was completely removed from both pieces of the deep fryer with very little elbow grease. The fryer looked as good as new, and the fish were great. Winning Colours is simply an amazing product with thousands of household uses.
