Feel Golf (OTCBB: FEEL) is focusing development on ways to give golfers back the spin and control they will lose when playing under the new USGA and R&A groove standards, effective for the professional Tours in January 2010.
Significant improvements are under development for the "Lee Miller Signature" wedge line -- first launched in 2010 to conform to the new groove rules. Changes for their new upcoming late 2011/2012 line of wedges and irons include new advanced materials and production processes.
"Our R&D team is busy designing wedges and irons using a new hybrid NASA type alloy that should improve spin and the ball-to-face friction," says Feel Golf Company CEO Lee Miller. "This will really complement our 'Micro Milled Face Lines,' which we first released on the 'Signature' wedge series this year. The micro-milled lines cover the entire wedge and iron face and should enable an increase in spin control, ball to face friction and still conform."
When watching Tour players on TV, the new groove rules don't seem to impede their ability to spin the ball as much as anticipated; after all, they are the world's best. However, for the average weekend golfer, the new grooves apparently have a negative effect according to customer feedback, being it actual or psychological, it's still negative.
Feel Golf's new wedges and irons will use proprietary advances to the company's highly-regarded pressure forged casting manufacturing processes. The combination of new materials, new production processes and advanced micro-milling techniques promises to make late 2011 and 2012's line an outstanding addition to the serious golfer's game.
