Gamblers Brace As 2010 Election Results Start To Trickle In
USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

The past couple of months have been stressful for millions of gamblers across the US. Lobbying groups and individual gamblers have spent months convincing their fellow voters that casinos, lotteries, online poker, and bingo machines would be good in their jurisdiction.

Today, voters went to the polls and the 2010 election results have started to trickle in. The biggest watch will be on the US House seats that are up for grabs, but local governor positions will also be a telling sign as to the direction of gambling in various states.

Alabama voters had perhaps the most difficult choice in the country. For the most part, voters have sided with Republican Robert Bentley on many issues during the campaign, but Democrat Ron Sparks offered the one thing that many Alabamians craved, an end to gambling prohibition in the state.

In Maryland, more voter turnout was expected than usual for a mid-term election and that was because of a ballot initiative in Anne Arundel County. The initiative would give approval for a casino at Aeundel Mills mall, and the lobbying on both sides of this issue has been fierce leading up to Tuesday.

Nevada, the gambling capital of the US, has voters making a decision that could also change the future of gambling in their state. Senator Harry Reid, the Majority Leader in the US Senate, is facing stiff competition, and if he loses, not only the state but the country could feel the effects. Reid had been warming to the idea of online poker regulations in recent months.

The polls will close in some states by 7PM, and 7:30PM in others. Out West, gamblers will have to wait until late into the night before they know whether or not their choice in leadership wins. California also has a proposition on the ballot that would legalize marijuana.
