just re-read the pr. It is the first announcement of an animal study. They announce that the product has demonstrated efficacy in that it shrank herpes lesions. In earlier cell studies, there was a dramatic reduction in the amount of virus itself. Apparently, in this experiment, while there was a trend in that direction, the amount of reduction was not statistically significant (my intepretation). We will now continue to experiment on dosage and application schedule with the expectation (my interpretation) of increasing the efficacy further. For this first official result in animals, however, it is encouraging, they suggest. There was activity against the virus - lesion shrinkage.

Apparently, this is where we are now. The official press release signifies that this is "the real deal". Is this news bad? I don't think so. It is just that where we actually are with this seems less far along than where many of us thought we were. What have the scientists and the company been doing all this time? I suspect they have been working very hard to get the product to this point.
