If I wanted my pets to fly, I have to say I would use Pet Airways. I would never allow my 80+ lb dogs to end up in a plane's cargo hold. Too many animals die in there. A few weeks ago, 3 puppies died in a cargo hold. The plane had flown them even though outside temps were above the specs for flying animals. Cargo holds are made for luggage and my dogs are family... not luggage.
The PAWS planes are small jets so I can see this being a cost effective mode of transportation, esp when you can fly up to 50 animals per trip. And in looking at the website, the fare seems to be fairly priced when compared to human fares.
