I could imagine that by doing this pretty ugly dilution right now, Ariad has the opportunity to decide how to continue without factoring in revenues from RIDA - thus a potential failure of succeed would allow the company more options in negotiating.

Enough said, i don't like it, too - but still all cards in the game.
17 % dilution is huge, but will not matter if Rida gets filed in 2011......
