CCME: let's not forget the short interest data covered by that window shows only settled data as of Oct 15. Since it usually takes 2-3 days for transactions to settle, the 4.4.M short interest shown at the end of that window very probably doesnt include data from Oct 13, 14 and 15 during which extremely high volumes (b/w 1.5M and 3M+ shares) were reached as the share price shot from 12 to 16 and forced many "old" shorts to cover.

So the window doesnt actually contain any major short squeeze that imo began in earnest around Oct 14 - 15 when the stock closed at 14 and 16. That however would be covered by the next window. I would be very surprised to see a short interest anywhere near 2 to 3M in the next window (by Nov 15) as many of these old 4.4M old shorts who got in b/w 12-14 SP were forced to cover latest on Oct 15 by margin calls. Granted we also get a wave of daredevil new shorts enticed by the $16 peak of Oct 15 but they are by far not as numerous as the ones who shorted at the previous lower and thus less risky levels.

Here are some details on closing prices and volumes of that window:
