A market maker is a company, or an individual, that quotes both a buy and a sell price in a financial instrument or commodity held in inventory, hoping to make a profit on the bid-offer spread, or turn.[1](from wikipedia).

The brokers (etrade, ameritrade, choicetrade etc)route their orders to market makers, who attempt to have sufficient stock in companies to fill the brokers orders.

There is an IHUB article on market makers and the games they play either on this board or if not here I believe on the IHUB MYFT board.

You can find a listing of mm's at otcmarkets.com/pinksheets/market activity/market maker data.
Each stock has a certain number of mm's who trade in that stock, except for stocks that have no mm's(and therefore are considered unsolicited bids and may not be liquid),and the number of mm's dealing w a certain stock may vary widely from day to day,but you can usually find the mm's dealing in a specific stock at the otcmarkets.com site.
