I know, I remember telling someone that if you cannot trust the bank to get the numbers right, when it came to your checking account, or savings account, but I never even thought about the mortgage. When my parents bought a home in 1950, the title and all of its work were in the same place for lifetime of the loan.
In 1978 right after his death, I sold the home and when I went down the bank to get the title it was right there, along with all of the original work, now I don't think that happens anymore.
Recently I hear a line fromsome banking official who said just trust us, we will straighten it all out. I laughed and said it must be really Fu---- up, but when it came for them to take bonuses, then the numbers were just fine, and they all eneded up taking the money out the front door. What did Willie Sutton once say when they asked him why he robbed banks, and he said but thats where the money is, well now I am so sure anymore.
FHN- this is my back, 11 years ago when I got this house and mortgage I remember instructing my daughter about going to a good bank, and a good Title place, they check everything, and all of the papers will be in order and safe. Well this morning I found out the SEC is looking into them also. I also found out two years ago they sold off there mortgage division to another company.
Lookslike many people will be in for a rude awakening, and soon.
