I disagree. Dupont has the buyers, the market, the commercial infrastructure and more importantly the relationships with vendors that would need a material such as Kevlar or any kind of Kevlar replacement.

Utilities don't compete against renewable energy, they use it when it makes sense or government dictates. Oil companies also pour a ton of money into alternative energy research. It's bad business to put all of your eggs in one basket.
