4G is a major reason why they'll gain market share going forward. However it is not the most important reason. Compare plans for the major providers and you'll see Sprints $69.99 Everything Data plan can be a HUGE incentive for someone to switch to Sprint. They'll also let you try a new phone/plan/service for 30 days (if you don't like it, you can cancel and all you owe is a restocking fee for the phone).
