You don't seem to understand there were two pieces to the trial. The 160 Veterans who were part of the first large portion of the trial. These were the Veterans who thought they were healthy and had not been diagnosed with cancer who signed up through the NM VA as trial subjects. This portion of the trial is done.

The extra samples needed are from the second cohort which was added last October. This second cohort only had approximately 20 people who had been diagnosed with lung cancer but had received no treatment for it yet. This was called the positive control group. The new samples are needed to replace some of those 20 second cohort samples not the larger first part of the trial that screened the vets.

From today's PR:....extending the pilot clinical trial of its CyPath® diagnostic assay for the detection of early-stage lung cancer to recruit additional participants for the positive control group, patients who have been diagnosed with lung cancer but have not yet begun treatment for the disease.

As of May 24, 2010, we had recruited more than 500 veterans for the Phase II study and completed screening on 160 individuals.

The much, much smaller positive control group is the part of the trial they need more samples for not the larger portion of the trial screening the Vets...that is already done. We are currently conducting analysis on a positive cohort of diagnosed lung cancer patients
