Those are good questions that I do not know, primarily because I do not short stocks.

A quick story...

I sat next to a guy on a plane who is now retired. He's 46. When the whole market went from 14k to 6k, he heavily shorted his asset position, primarily financial institutions. Wish I had his account =)
