Would be great if it worked like that, but that would require perhaps hundreds of different ligands attached to each cide particle.

Sialic acid ligand is supposed to be effective against 90% of viruses, but even then to increase efficacy for each different virus requires specific sets of ligands. DengueCide is a perfect example. To achieve near 100% efficacy against all 4 types of Dengue, the micelle has to be loaded with specific ligands for each Dengue type. That is the current challenge. Two approaches, mix all 4 different types of DengueCide micelles into a single injection, or load each micelle with ligands for all 4 types. Apparently, a set of ligands for one is less effective for others.
