I sent the news item about KBLB's patent application to a patent attorney I know asking what he thought about it-here's his reply:

"Hard to say. They filed a provisional application, which is usually just a short statement about the invention and acts as place marker until a full utility application can be filed. They will have one year to perfect the application into a full utility application, complete with claims, drawings and disclosures of the prior art. Provisional applications are not public, so can't take a look. However, if they are working with a University, then it is probably legit."

I already submitted a question to Ben Hansel asking Kim to estimate when the "full utility application" will be filed during the next 12 months.
