Lucky, indeed. I recently burned the fingers on my left hand, 2nd degree burns, and I immediately plunged my hand into cool water while my daughter googled first aid for burns.

She told me that if blisters formed immediately (which they did), I had 2nd degree and I needed to go to the ER. So I proceeded to the local ER, where they immediately began treatment.

The web site had said wrap the burned area in a wet cloth on the way to the ER, which I did, and I held my hand out the window all the way to the hospital, and the cool breeze blowing through the wet cloth felt wonderful. But it may have had some effect on how quickly I healed.

Luckily, I've had very little pain associated with this entire event. The new pink skin is growing nicely and it should be all over and done with by the end of the week.

I went to my regular Doc for a follow-up a few days later, he said to me, "You know, even when you have bad luck, you're lucky." LOL, that's true. I have holes in all the knees of my pants from being down on them thanking God for how much he loves me and how well he takes care of this brain-dead person.
