a 1 and-a 2 and-a... 2/18/2005

I LOVE MUSIC !!!! and tonite was my kinda show...

We had some great singer/songwriters in the studio including Tiffany Shea and my personal favorite, Liz Wills... both were great... and I sat on the panel interviewing both with Cassian and/or David...

(We had other guests but I missed them as I was in my office preparing for my segments/guests)

I have felt a huge loss of music in my life since I moved out here and it felt like going home to be back around musically based people. These people live this stuff, just like I did for so many years... (I still do, it's just now from a distance as we get this network off the ground).

We actually start the new "Rhino Bucket" album, our fourth, early next month and it will be great to get into a studio and bash a little...

Tomorrow night, Liz is in concert here locally so I'll have 2 straight days of great songs, great voices and great vibes... just like it should be...

Think I'll go put on a little Aretha...

See ya everyone,

Jax

drag, drag everywhere... 2/17/2005

hey everyone... "it's a real big news day so let's not waste any time..."

(oops sorry... that's Scotty's line...)

how about... "Goose, up, gibson style"... there, that sounds more like me...

so how is everyone???

The meetings continue around here and since somehow I've become the conduit that all things run through, I thought I would just give you the bullet points that most of these meetings are about, so some of you can back away from the ledge...... (you are starting to scare me)

Look at auditions for morning show...
meet with Honey Labrador (queer eye for a straight girl) and her production team...
sign other new shows and films...
design set for Gay Court (new show)...
finish in house carrier meetings, get ready to meet with national carriers later this month....
discuss the new format for ON Q LIVE...
discuss what Gay events we want to cover (and who should cover them) in the up-coming year...
find Jackie some decent male companionship...
so that about covers it... (I think the last one will be the most difficult...)

I can tell you that a lot of this is business type stuff and I'm sitting in there thinking "damn, I need to go edit my show..." The shack is my priority and I hate it when I feel like I'm compromising it...

Anywho, we here at Q are still in business, (stop worrying will ya ???), the drag show was fun (it was actually more about the Imperial Court, which is a gay fundraising club sorta), and the Drag people were all fabulous...

For tomorrow... we have Gay musicians and song writers

now we are talking !!!!

be good

Jax

so this is morning... 2/16/2005

Me tired... we started early.. everyone called it "morning".. I'm not too familiar but I do know that there was like this "universal light" that scared the crap out of me. Everywhere I went it was, like, bright...

I later found out that it was "daylight"...

(Daylight ??? wow... daylight works long hours. I thought it started around 2, met up with me around 3 and got off about 6... I didn't know it had to work from like 5 AM on... whew... that's a long day)

:) ok enough silliness...

We had our meetings ( for the nay sayers out there, yep we are still here), and last night's show was very cool. We talked about people of color that were also gay. Lots of great guests and we covered all ethnicity’s, not just African American. We even had a "gay Muslim" on which is not two words you often have in the same sentence.

Very cool, right ?

ok kids... I need to get some sleep before that daylight thing happens again...

see ya tomorrow... (errrr... a little later)

:)

Jax

I'll have another... 2/15/2005

ok... lets get something straight...

I made a simple little joke in my journal yesterday... We got a million e-mails asking if the station was "in trouble" because silly me made a remark about our "State of the station" meeting.

ok... kids... here's the real inside scoop... are you ready ????

We have meetings... IMAGINE THAT !!!!!!!

yep, hard to believe but we actually talk about how to make this network, programming, and work place relationships the best they can be.

I wish I had some really cool dirt to tell you, but I simply don't...

so, once and hopefully for all,

we are fine.

the station is fine

and the shows are fine (and developing)

I like to have fun... if you want to think everything I write is some cryptic secret message, that is on you...

(I think you would be better off playing Sgt. Peppers backwards...)

but for those of you that are unconvinced, this is for you:

iffjjfufdjujuen&hjhjd$gdy%hujdjeu@h(jdyrh^

that should keep you busy until you find a life....

For the rest of you, the show was great and our dinner was fabulous.

I have a lot of work ahead of me and I'm getting a late start...

oh.. and the dinner check did not bounce, despite Jackie's journal yesterday...

:)

Valentine's Day (the sequel) 2/14/2005

Whoo-o-oh...

what's love got to do, got to do with it ???

a little Tina Turner to get us going on this Valentine's day 2005. We were "dark" this evening as we replayed the show from Friday because it was a valentines show and our boss loved it.

I try to love anything he loves including chocolate milk shakes.

We had the whole cast except Mr. Jett in studio and we shot some "bumpers" (mini commercials) for the new shows and the new season.

Good energy in the house... We have a new producer, Andrea, for ON Q LIVE and she has brought a certain calm it seems...

Tomorrow and the next day all three offices (Seattle, Palm Springs and Fort Worth are in Texas for our big "State of the Union" address. (or "state of the station" in our case). It's a big ta-do and we even have a fancy dinner late tomorrow nite...

Hey.. they will probably have some Grey Goose or Kettle One there, right ???

Me thinks me likes this big Ta-do stuff...

woo-o oh... what's love got to do, got to do with it...

the first round is on me...

woo-o-oh...

Valentines Day (a tad early) :) 2/11/2005

Hi-do ho everybody. Jackie here and today we covered Valentines day. It was a little early but L O V E was in the air and we just went with it. We had a lot of 1/2 naked boys (models) around and the studio staff was pretty happy about that.

I was sorta wondering what all of their dads looked like...

damn... I think I'm.... old (sigh)

I'm like a fine wine... a vintage sports car... a 1961 Willie Mays baseball card...

I just get better with age...

yep.. that's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

'Tis time once again to sign off by wishing you all a very happy and blessed weekend.

Keep good thoughts (the other kind basically s*ck) and I will catch all of you here on Monday night.

ciao' bella

Jax

almost the weekend... 2/10/2005

hey everyone... tonite was gay media but the truth of the matter is simply everyone is waiting for the new format. I don't have any new details but I hear it will be Chrisanne having her own show, Jack having his own show (with me helping him out as co-host on Fridays) and Scotty holding down the news hour with moi' doing sports.

Cassian and David will also be part of whatever happens.

I'm going to NY next week to interview the incomparable JENNIFER HOLLIDAY and attend the Winter Explosion which is the only African American gay ski party in the world. Cassian is coming with me so it should be a blast. It's also another chance to stop doing the "imitate Steven Tyler" thing and keep the damn microphone down in "TV position" rather than "rocker-chick position".

The learning experience continues...

alrighty, say good night Jackie...

good night everybody...

cheers,

Jax

I'm Baaaaack..... :) 2/8/2005

Hey everybody... I'm home.... YIP-PEEEEE!!!!

The Super Bowl was great but it is a mad house so it's good to be home.

My camera girl Martha and I worked 15 hour days but the footage is less than I hoped as there was so much noise and interference in the air, the audio is weak. I also do the ol' rocker thing and hold the mic too close to my mouth and my old buddy, good ol' Mr. microphone, he don't seem to like that too much. (I think it's an intimacy issue)

Anywho, it was good to get back to my shack, get a few hours of sleep and listen in on companies that are serving the Gay community.

The whole cast was on set (rare these days) so I just visited and we all talked a little football.

We are changing the format of the show and it looks like Chrisanne will have her own 1/2 hour, Scotty and I will share an hour, and Jack E Jett will have an hour called "The Queer Edge". Cassian and David will also be zooming in and out of all of the above.

It's still in the planning stage (that means it can change in a blink of an eye) but I'll keep you in the loop..

for now, as REO Speedwagon once sang, "it's time for me to fly"

everyone be good and keep a positive thought

I missed you all

Jax out

unemployment ? I don't need no stinkin' unemployment !!!! 2/2/2005

Another fun show and again I learned something.

I learned it's cool to have a job :)

All our guests talked about the opportunities and the sometimes hidden hardships of finding a "gay friendly" job.

Obviously, the transgender thing was interesting to me but they covered any and all angles and all of the folk had a tasty tid-bit or two to mull over.

Tomorrow, Nick and I leave for this certain football game in Jacksonville...

Nick was all excited and since he's not a huge football fan, I didn't know why... then he told me we were going to the "Super Ball"...

(sigh)

hope he doesn't pack a gown... :)

Cya when I get back

Jax

I have 13 dollars.. 2/1/2005

Well here we are again... and look, I found the way to add a little color... I am so cutting edge...

Tonight was travel night and not just any travel but high end travel... if you got the dollars, our guests will show you a good time.

The in studio guests were all fabulous, as were the satellite folk and it was a very interesting show.

It reminded me a little of "lifestyles of the rich and famous" and I'm neither, so I'll just live vicariously thru our shows

If you have $600,00 burning a hole in your pocket, give me a call... I know where there is a great party and you can get us both in..

I'll pitch in my $ 13 ...

ta ta for now...

PS: it's the 2nd anniversary of the Columbia shuttle disaster... keep some space in your heart.
