About Us
JVX was established by Blaine Webster in 1983 to provide a high level of professional geophysical contracting service to the mining industry. JVX quickly recognized the usefulness of Spectral IP surveys in geological areas in which the mineralization was usually associated with fine-grained pyrite.
Over the years, JVX expanded its services to include consulting, regional compilations and ground surveys including Frequency and Time-Domain Electromagnetics and Gravity. In the early 1990’s, JVX began to service the environmental and Geotechnical engineering industries. JVX also proposed and executed customized surveys for its clients including the use of DGPS for a marine seismic survey for diamonds in Angola and for several snowmobile Rover Magnetometer surveys in the Canadian North.
In 1998, JVX built its first borehole IP system to explore to depths of 3000 m. With the assistance of Ontario Government IRAP grants, JVX slowly developed the method through several test surveys. In 2003, JVX partnered with FNX Mining Company in Sudbury to refine the survey technique, receiving partial funding from OMET (the Ontario Mineral Exploration Technologies program).
The borehole IP system provided an ideal dataset for inversion of data. Created 3D models, of both conductivity and chargeability of volume around the boreholes, gave new insight into subsurface structures.
Currently JVX has carried out over 500 geophysical surveys for all types of exploration targets on five continents.
