Ahhh Engineer, for the first time I disagree with you completely. If you look at how MM deal with pricing pressures (Buys & Sells) you'll note that when PR & momo are hot on a stock they will GAP up -- sometimes intraday-- the MM's are always concerned about setting pricing levels.

Levels that they can find trading at. The more the better, it always leads to people having some familiarity & creates buying/selling hotspots & that, after all is exactly what MM need to make money.

They don't care about the price, they care about trade volume. By setting levels & trading in each "zone" they can ensure future buying/selling in & around those points!

It is also an area where they have a deficit in their books! They have shares with values at each price point & balance their books by making buys/sells or trading activity there. They will ALWAYS try to get back to a gap each & everytime they create one!

I am not trying to convince you, just saying that MM put in gaps to deal with buying/selling pressures then are compelled to return there (at some point) to balance their books!

Most chartists & TA guys will tell you that-- & by back-testing you'll find it is not folklore, but more often than not a veritable fact! fwiw
