It actually begin longer ago than that. The government writes the rules, and the Companies play by their rules. Yes----it is a two way street. Both sides are greedy, so we have a lose--lose situation. The loss of the glass steigle act was part of it, but the cra "act" the consumer reinvestment act written by none other than Barney Frank--pardon the pun. With both sides acting together including the fed, Freddie, and Fannie, we are now in a big pickle. One answer is to bring the mine canary back into play, but that is not the total answer. All bodes well for Itro though.
