Heat treating of metals in a reducing atmosphere (like hydrogen)
can produce embrittlement. That's a known fact. The heat
treating temperatures required may be somewhat above those
generated in combustion, but then maybe not. I would invite
anyone with a metallurgy background to comment. If this board
can't handle simple questions like the one I raised without
denegrading outbursts, then I suggest the respondents take
a few moments to look themselves in the mirror.
